Advanced Light Technologies has strategic relationships with the
University of California at Davis, and California State University
at Chico,
and has recently completed materials science testing in conjunction
with Rutgers University to advance our polymer sterilization technologies.
These alliances support us with research facilities, manpower,
and equipment.
The University of California at Davis has received a $393,000
grant for a three-year study to research our processes for efficiency,
pest control, and rice quality. The study will also evaluate our
processes with onions and garlic, as well as with grape waste for
use as animal food.
Advanced Light Technologies also has a joint venture with Sunsweet,
Inc. This venture offers us a demonstration platform for our technology
in
agriculture and food processing, and assists us with funding for
research and development in sterilization for the food and beverage
industry. Sunsweet also supports us with funding for new patent
applications.
We have also entered into a cooperative venture with Sunsweet,
and several optical detection and sorting companies, to couple
their technology with ours. This enables us to improve the process
of identifying and excluding foreign material or sub-standard or
defective products from processing lines.
Additional alliances and partnerships will continue to be developed
with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of
Food and Agriculture, and the Health and Human Services Department
for the purposes of patent protection as well as expediting approval
processing.
