Brian Pierce, Founder
President, and Chairman
of the Board
Brian Pierce is an inventor and entrepreneur whose notable genius
is developing innovative, simple solutions to highly complex
problems. His commitment to finding an environmentally safe and
cost-effective alternative to pesticides has resulted in a new
science, Applied Photo Mechanics. Mr. Pierce successfully
sought and received one patent and has four patents pending to
support
Applied Photo Mechanics. He has extensive management experience
in several industries. He has taken the best practices of each
(agriculture, manufacturing, mechanics, and air transportation)
and applied them to Advanced Light Technologies. Mr. Pierce
is a scientist who brings a fresh, unhindered perspective to
the
business
of
Photonics and technology development.

Dr. James Postma
Chief Science Officer, Board Member
Dr. James M. Postma, chief science officer, joined Advanced
Light Technology in 1997. Dr. Postma provides an extensive
scientific research background as well as administrative and leadership
skills and is a liaison with academia. Dr. Postma served
as the Chair of The Chemistry Department at California State
University, Chico from 1998 to 2004. His many publishing accomplishments
include Chemistry in the Laboratory, 5th edition
and contributions to The Journal of Physical Chemistry.
Dr. Postma continues
to be involved in university governance at California State University,
Chico,
and has served on numerous boards and committees including the
University Foundation Board of Governors, the Finance and Audit
Committee, and the Nominations Committee. As a member of the
Academic Senate (1983, 1986-1998, 2000-present), he has held
numerous executive positions including Chair (1991-93 and 2002-2003),
and Secretary (1987-88, 2000-present).

Harold Schenker
Board Member
Harold Schenker joined Advanced Light in 2001. He is currently
President and CEO of Sunsweet Growers, Inc., and serves on the
board of directors of various food and technology organizations,
including the American Counsel for Food Safety and Quality. Schenker
has been actively engaged for over twenty years in legal and
operational ventures involving technology, intellectual property,
and agriculture, both as an advisor and in corporate executive
roles. He has served as Executive VP and General Counsel for
Del Monte Fresh Produce and as Senior Technology Counsel for
Ryder System.
Ken Kaplan
Board Member
Ken Kaplan has been a board member and part of Advanced Light Technologies
from its inception. He is an agriculturalist, General Manager of
Duché Nut
Company, and President of American Almond and Lake Ranch Pistachio.
He is a board member of Sunsweet, past vice-chair of the Pistachio
Commission and has served on many different boards and committees.
Ken brings a large amount of experience from the food processing
and agriculture management prospective.
